Comp Rules | Snowy Mountains Trout Festival

All competitors must fish in accordance with the NSW Laws and Regulations Governing Fishing.
There are strictly NO exceptions to this rule.

Competition is open to all styles of legal fishing; Bait, Trolling, Spinning and Fly Fishing.

Minimum fish length for the 2023 Snowy Mountains Trout Festival competition is 35cm.

Competitors can fish in any public waters within the Snowy River Shire boundaries. Private lakes, private dams or commercial fish farms are strictly excluded from this event.

All competitors must pay the Snowy Mountains Trout Festival entry fee prior to fishing.
Committee decisions are final, and NO correspondence will be entered into.
All prizes will be available for collection at the presentation on Friday 10th November 2023.
All daily competition results and daily winners will be published nightly at 8pm on wwwtroutfestival.net

ENTRY FEES: Adult $55, Junior $35 (children must be under 16 years old at the time of the event to be eligible for the Junior category).
Each competitor can only weigh in 1 Brown Trout and 1 Rainbow Trout per day.
Juniors are eligible to win all prizes on offer.
Competitors may purchase a second entry and fish with two different competitor numbers, allowing that competitor to enter up to 2 Brown Trout and 2 Rainbow Trout each day.

MAJOR PRIZE LUCKY ENTRANT DRAW: 2023 Quintrex F390 Outback Explorer, Mercury 25hp Motor and Alloy Trailer package. Competitor to be chosen from a random draw during the 2023 Snowy Mountains Trout Festival Presentation. You must be a competitor and be present at the presentation in the Adaminaby Town Centre from 12.00pm Friday the 10th November 2023 to be eligible to win, and claim your prize.

SECRET WEIGHT: 6 x $500 Brown Trout Secret Weight Prizes (1 per day). Prize awarded to the closest Brown Trout to the random daily secret weight. If multiple Brown Trout have the same weight, $500 will be divided evenly between all winners. (Competitors do not have to be present at the presentation claim this prize.)

SECRET WEIGHT: 6 x $500 Rainbow Trout Secret Weight Prizes (1 per day). Prize awarded to the closest Rainbow Trout to the random daily secret weight. If multiple Rainbow Trout have the same weight, $500 will be divided evenly between all winners. (Competitors do not have to be present at the presentation claim this prize.) Please note: The secret weights cannot be generated until all results have been entered into the database after 6pm each evening. This ensures no entrant, committee member or member of the public has any knowledge of weights prior to the event and all weights are included in the draw for that day. The secret weight is generated via the random number generator program (random.org) and each evening the parameters are set from the smallest fish weighed in, to the largest fish weighed in. This gives ALL ENTRANTS a fair and equal chance of being selected.
This process is witnessed and recorded to ensure the draw is always conducted ethically by the committee.

COMMEMMORATIVE 2023 FESTIVAL GLASSES: 5 x single boxed beer glasses will be awarded to the top 5 heaviest Brown Trout and the top 5 heaviest Rainbow Trout each day across all weigh stations. Competitors are only eligible to win 1 single boxed glass during the event. In the event a competitor has already won a commemorative glass, the prize will be awarded to the next eligible competitor. (Competitors do not have to be present at the presentation to claim their prize).

SUPER SWEEP TUESDAY: 24 competitors will be drawn at random on the Monday evening before Melbourne Cup. In order of selection, they will be given the corresponding number of that Racehorse for this year’s 2023 Melbourne Cup. First place wins $1000, Second Place wins $600, Third Place wins $300 and last place wins $100. Total Super Sweep Tuesday prize value $2000. (Competitors do not have to be present at the presentation to claim their prize).

DAILY LUCKY ENTRANT PRIZE DRAW: 65L Camping Fridge Freezer and Fridge Freezer Cover. Prize valued at $528.00 rrp. One competitor is chosen by random draw each night after weigh-ins close and wins the corresponding prize for that day. Total prize value for Daily Lucky Entrant Prize Draw is $3,168.00 rrp. (Competitors do not have to be present at the presentation to claim their prize).

HEAVIEST FISH OVERALL (Brown Trout or Rainbow Trout) will be deemed the overall winner of the 2023 Snowy Mountains Trout Festival. The winner will have their name placed on the Snowy Mountains Trout Festival perpetual trophy. (Competitors do not have to be present at the presentation to claim their prize)

PRIZES AWARDED FOR OVERALL HEAVIEST BROWN TROUT: 1st place $500rrp Tackle Pack, 2nd Place $300rrp Tackle Pack, 3rd Place $150rrp Tackle Pack. (Competitors do not have to be present at the presentation to claim their prize). Total prize value $950rrp.
